Several vacancies exist on the following boards and commissions to which Charlotte City Council makes appointments.
These are volunteer positions on a wide variety of boards with differing time commitments.
All applicants must be registered to vote in Mecklenburg County.
VACANCIES ON CITY COUNCIL BOARDS
On Monday, January 13, 2014, City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions on the following
boards and committees:
A. FIREMEN’S RELIEF BOARD
One appointment for a two year term beginning January 19, 2014 and ending January 18, 2016.
C. Harley Cook is eligible and would like to be reappointed.
Time commitment: 1 hour/monthly. Meets quarterly at 11 am at 228 East 9th Street.
B. PRIVATIZATION/COMPETITION ADVISORY BOARD
Three appointments for two year terms beginning March 2, 2014 and ending March 1, 2016.
Natalie Brown is eligible but not interested in being considered for reappointment.
Katherine Payerle and Julian Wright, Jr. are eligible and interested in reappointment.
Time commitment: 4-5 hours/monthly. Meets 2nd Thursday monthly at 7:30 am at the Government Center, 600 E 4th St.
C. TRANSIT SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One appointment for an express service passenger for a three year term beginning Feb 1, 2014 and ending Jan 31, 2017.
Terry Lansdell has completed two full terms of service and is not eligible for reappointment.
One appointment for a local or express service passenger for a 3 year term beginning Feb 1, 2014 ending Jan 31, 2017.
George Schaeffer III is eligible and would like to be reappointed.
Time commitment: 2 hours/monthly. Meet 2nd Thursday at 4:00 pm at the Government Center, 600 East 4th St.
D. ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
One appointment for a three year term beginning January 31, 2014 and ending January 30, 2017.
David Hoffman is eligible and would like to be reappointed.
One appointment for an alternate member for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending January 30, 2015.
Paul Arena has been moved to a Mayoral appointment.
Time commitment: 9 hours/monthly. Meets last Tues monthly/ 2nd Tues in Dec at 9:00 am in the Government Center, 600 E 4th St.
E. PLANNING COMMISSION
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015.
Gregory Phipps has resigned.
Time commitment: 24 hours/monthly. Meets 1st Monday monthly at 12:00 pm in the Government Center 600 E 4th St.
All applicants must be registered voters in Mecklenburg County.
Appointees serve on a voluntary basis without compensation.
All applications must be completed with signature and returned to the City Clerk’s Office
no later than 5:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2013.
