Breaking and Entering Suspect Arrested
Eastway Division Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Brian Keith Hancock, DOB: 10/06/1981, for his involvement in a residential breaking and entering case.
On Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at approximately 1:00 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a breaking and entering in progress call for service at a home in the 1300 block of Anderson Street. The reporting person called 911 and stated he heard windows break and observed someone in his neighbor’s home.
The first responding officer arrived on the scene in less than a minute and immediately observed the suspect attempting to hide behind bushes near the home. When the officer approached the suspect, the officer observed what appeared to be fresh blood on the suspect’s hands and that one of the windows to the home had been broken. Officers also recovered lawn equipment that belonged to the home owner that was taken during the break-in. Additionally, officers determined that Hancock also broke in to the victim’s vehicle which was parked in the driveway.
Brian Keith Hancock was arrested and charged with breaking and entering with force, breaking into a motor vehicle, and larceny after breaking and entering. This arrest illustrates how critical it is for the community and police to work together. Had it not been for an engaged neighbor calling 9-11 to report this activity, this individual would likely still be free to victimize our community.
