Domestic Violence Unit
The responsibility of the DVU is to prevent domestic violence, objectively investigate domestic violence offenses, assist victims of domestic violence, and hold suspects accountable for their criminal actions based on probable cause.  The unit primarily investigates the following domestic violence crimes:  (1) aggravated assaults with serious injuries, (2) misdemeanors with serious, lethal threats, (3) strangulations, (4) stalking, (5) violations of DV Protective Orders, (6) incidents involving department employees, and (7) incidents involving non-CMPD law enforcement personnel.  The DVU is comprised of the following personnel: one sergeant, six detectives, and four counselors.

Missing Persons Unit
The responsibility of the Missing Persons Unit is to investigate missing persons and inactive kidnappings/abductions regardless of the age of the victims.  The unit will endeavor to successful locate missing persons and hold kidnapping/abductions suspects accountable for their criminal actions based on probable cause.  The MPU is comprised of the following personnel: one sergeant, five detectives, and one investigative technician.
