Crime Statistical Summary for the Second Quarter of 2014: 

CMPD ended June, 2014 with a -3.2% decrease in Index Offenses compared to last year.  Property crime decreased by -2.7% while violent crime decreased by -6.5%.

  • 25 homicides were reported compared to 20, resulting in an increase of 25%. 
     
  • 778 robberies were reported compared to 848, resulting in a decrease of -8.3%.
     
  • 124 rapes were reported compared to 147, resulting in a decrease of -15.6%.
     
  • 1396 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 1469, resulting in a decrease of -5.0%.
     
  • Burglary overall was down -12.1%, (2708 compared to 3082) with a decrease of -15.8% in residential (2066 compared to 2453) and an increase of 2.1% in commercial cases (642 compared to 629).
     
  • 762 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 835, resulting in a decrease of -8.7%.
     
  • Total larceny cases increased by 0.9% (10461 compared to 10367) with the larcenies from auto up by 0.1% (3529 compared to 3527).
     
  • 81 arson cases were reported compared to 114, resulting in a decrease of -28.9%.
