Crime Statistical Summary for the Year of 2014: 

CMPD ended December, 2014, with a 0.4% increase in Index Offenses compared to last year. Property crime increased by 0.6% while violent crime decreased by -0.6%.

  • 42 homicides were reported compared to 53, resulting in a decrease of -20.8%. 
     
  • 1586 robberies were reported compared to 1811, resulting in a decrease of -12.4%.
     
  • 258 rapes were reported compared to 263, resulting in a decrease of -1.9%.
     
  • 3217 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 3006, resulting in a increase of 7.0%.
     
  • Burglary overall was down -5.9%, (6069 compared to 6448) with a decrease of -12.4% in residential (4473 compared to 5109) and an increase of 19.2% in commercial cases (1596 compared to 1339).
     
  • 1706 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 1878, resulting in a decrease of -9.2%.
     
  • Total larceny cases increased by 3.5% (22769 compared to 21992) with the larcenies from auto up by 3.3% (8037 compared to 7779).
     
  • 166 arson cases were reported compared to 217, resulting in a decrease of -23.5%.
