Crime Statistical Summary for December 2013: 

CMPD ended 2013 with a -5.6% decrease in Index Offenses compared to last year.  Property crime decreased by -6.1% while violent crime decreased by -2.7%.
 
• 58 homicides were reported compared to 52, resulting in an increase of 11.5%. 
 
• 1805 robberies were reported compared to 1798, resulting in an increase of 0.4%.
 
• 233 rapes were reported compared to 219, resulting in an increase of 6.4%.
 
• 2998 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 3165, resulting in a decrease of -5.3%.
 
• Burglary overall was down -17.0%, (6439 compared to 7761) with a decrease of -11.4% in residential (5138 compared to 5801) and a decrease of -33.6% in commercial cases (1301 compared to 1960).
 
• 1856 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 2138, resulting in a decrease of -13.2%.
 
• Total larceny cases decreased by -1.8% (22274 compared to 22689) with the larcenies from auto down by -6.0% (7835 compared to 8336).
 
• 217 arson cases were reported compared to 194, resulting in an increase of 11.9%.
