Crime Statistical Summary for April 2013: 
 

Through the end of April, the prelimi inary total for Index Offenses was -5.0% lower tthan this time last year. Property crime decreased by -55.1% while violent crime decreased by -4.3%.

  • 14 homicides were reported th hrough April compared to 19, resulting in a decr rease of -26.3%. 
     
  • 547 robberies were reported c compared to 562, resulting in an decrease of -2.7 7%. 
     
  •  85 rapes were reported compa ared to 76, resulting in an increase of 11.8%. 
     
  • 905 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 964, resulting in a decreas se of -6.1%. 
     
  •  Burglary overall was down -111.8%, (1946 compared to 2206) with a decrease e of -12.5% in residential (1563 compared to o 1786) and a decrease of -8.8% in commercial c cases (383 compared to 420). 
     
  •  501 vehicle thefts were report ted compared to 592, resulting in a decrease of --15.4%. 
     
  • Total larceny cases decreased by -2.3% (6829 compared to 6992) with the lar rcenies from auto down by -7.0% (2294 compar red to 2466). 
     
  • 74 arson cases were reported ccompared to 59, resulting in an increase of 25.4%%.
