Real Estate Acquisition
Land is acquired for right-of-ways, easements and encroachment agreements necessary for the successful completion of public projects such as roads, sidewalks, police and fire stations. This team also acquires easements for water and sewer improvements. This process takes place after the planning and design phases of a project are complete. All property acquisition must be complete before construction begins.
Surveying and Mapping
Surveying is performed in order to provide base maps, City limit lines, topographic maps, right-of-way limits, and horizontal and vertical controls for roads and streets. A GIS mapping center provides maps for internal customers within the City and County government. The public may purchase maps from Mecklenburg County.
