Mayor Patrick Cannon took time out to meet with parents and students participating in the Thomasboro Academy Truancy Court Program.
Staff members William Humphrey, Gwendolyn Harris, and Beatrice Bui are also pictured. The program, a joint effort between CMS and Mecklenburg County District Court, helps students decrease the number of days they miss from school with unexcused absences.
Mayor Cannon participated in Harvard University's Seminar on Transition and Leadership for Newly Elected Mayors
Mayor Patrick Cannon joined more than 20 mayors from large cities across the country participating in Harvard University’s Seminar on Transition and Leadership for Newly Elected Mayors. Sponsored by the university’s Institute of Politics, the seminar provided an opportunity to learn from top academic and policy experts on issues and challenges of governing. Topics included transitioning from the campaign to city hall, finance and administration, jobs and the economy, public safety, education and technology.
Two sessions were of special interest to the mayor as they correlated to remarks given during his Swearing-In speech on December 2. Those specific seminars were: 1) Jobs, Economic Development, and Competitiveness and 2) Challenges and Opportunities in Public Safety.
