Graffiti
The City's graffiti program emphasizes anti-graffiti education, ordinance enforcement and prevention.  Since its inception in 2001, the program has assisted in the cleanup of more than 5,000 graffiti incidents.

See graffiti.  Report it by emailing us, using the online reporting form or calling 311.  Most graffiti on public property can be removed within 48 hours.  Removal from private property may take longer due to notification of property owners.

Gangs and Graffiti
Gangs often use graffiti to mark areas they operate in.  The City's Code Enforcement Division works very close with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to identify gang related graffiti and to map the area where specific gangs operate.  This information keeps officers up to date on what gangs are operating in a particular area and what problems may arise.

Gang of One
Gang of One was established in 2004 as a youth gang prevention and intervention initiative.  Gang of One utilizes a network of local resources to address needs related to gang membership. In addition to educating the community about gang trends, Gang of One connects existing community resources to youth and their families that need assistance in avoiding gang membership or getting out of gangs.
