The function of the Transportation Planning Program Area is to provide support for long-range planning activities, develop and maintain transportation plans and programs, as well as provide support to the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO).
Transportation planning staff works in conjunction with other local departments, regional jurisdictions, as well as state and federal transportation staff members to achieve a transportation system that serves the needs of all those within the Charlotte Urbanized Area and supports local land use and infrastructure needs.
