MeckCARES FAMILY FUN DAY TO "STOMP OUT STIGMA" ABOUT CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
August 10, 2009

Charlotte, NC – It's that time of year again.  As young people and their families make the predictable mad dash to gather back-to-school supplies, community organizations want us all to remember needy families that are unable to purchase back packs, pencils, clothing and other items that help position a young person for academic and personal success.

In order to honor and support youth and families in Mecklenburg County, MeckCARES has partnered with Starlight Skating Rink to encourage young people and their families to participate in the 3rd Annual MeckCARES Family FUN Day. The event will allow families to enjoy a day of fun and recreation while learning about valuable children's mental health community resources—all while providing back-to-school supplies and support for needy families.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009
5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Starlight Skating Rink
8830 E. Harris Blvd

Admission is free for everyone who brings school supplies to donate. For each donation, youth and families will get free skate rentals, and will get to skate and enjoy a free snack.

Individuals and businesses are also encouraged to support local youth and families by sponsoring tickets for others to attend this special event.

For tickets and more information please contact: MeckCARES at 704-432-4593.
