Case # 1989-0515-025401
Victim – Jay Allen Wood
Age – 27 year old white male
Location – 100 W. Woodlawn Road
Date of homicide – May 15, 1989



The victim, manager of the Steak & Ale Restaurant on Woodlawn Road, was found by his wife, murdered in the office of the restaurant, after the business closed, the apparent victim of a robbery.

Victim – Sherray Ann Gaines
Age – 28 year old black female
Location - LaSalle St. & Dawson Ave
Date of homicide –February 5, 1995

The victim was last seen alive by witnesses on Saturday night 2/4/95 in the Five Points area and again on Rozzelles Ferry and Bruns Avenue. She was found by a postal worker while delivering mail the morning of 2/5/95.

Victim – Robert Vincent Gudenzi
Age – 61 year old white male
Location - 4624 South Boulevard
Date of homicide –May 18, 2000

On 5/18/00 at approximately 4:00 p.m., police responded to the 4600 block of South Boulevard, just north of Woodlawn Road, where an employee, Robert Gudenzi, age 61, of Charlotte was found murdered inside the building. Gudenzi had opened up the business on Thursday morning of 5/18/00.

Victim – Arvettra Martin Christmas
Age – 43 year old black male
Location - 2231 Rozzelles Ferry Road
Date of homicide –January 29, 1987

On January 29, 1987 at approximately 4:30 PM the victim was found lying on his sofa in his residence by a friend. This was approx. 15 minutes after the victim's neighbor, heard a gunshot that he said sounded like a heavy caliber handgun.

Victims – Sarah Mobley Hall & Derrick Dion Mobley
Ages – 27 year old black female & 11 year old black male
Location - 1411 Ventura Way #8
Date of homicide –March 3, 1984

The victims, Sarah and her son, were found in their apartment on March 14, 1984. There were signs of a struggle. It also appeared the victims had been deceased for several days. The victims were initially found by friends trying to contact Sarah and they in turn contacted the police.

Victim - Justin Dillon Ervin
Age - 20 year old white male
Location - 4201 Glenwood Drive
Date of Homicide - December 10th, 2005              

The victim and his girlfriend drove to the Xpress Mart located at 4201 Glenwood Drive.  They parked at the dead end street of Welling Ave.  The victim went into the store while the girlfriend waited in the vehicle.  Three unknown black male suspects approached her and robbed her.  The victim returned to the vehicle and was assaulted and shot while running away from the vehicle.  Two of the suspects fled on foot while the other one jumped in the victim's car and fled down Welling Ave.  He lost control of the vehicle and crashed in the front yard of 4029 Welling Ave.  This suspect ran from the scene

Victim - Audifas Perez DeHesa
Age - 39 year old latino male
Location - 313 Blackhawk Rd # 5
Date of Homicide - July 22, 2000

The Victim was originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. He and several other Latino males lived together while working in sheet rock construction in Charlotte. Mr. DeHesa had only been in the US for about three months in Charlotte and had no criminal record. Officers responded to the residence and found the victim shot. He was transported to CMC where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses in the apartment said they heard a knock at the back door. The Mr. DeHesa answered the door and they heard one gun shot. When they went back they found the victim shot and two black males running from the apartment

Victim - Samuel Scott Tillman                                            
Age - 24 year old white male
Location - Interstate 77 North Bound
Date of Homicide - July 4, 1986

On July 4, 1986, at 2:57AM the victim was found wrecked against a guard rail on I-77 South of Wilkinson Boulevard. The victim was found in the car, shot and died a short time later. A blue late model General Motors car, similar to a Buick Regal, was seen "playing tag" with the Tillman vehicle shortly before the incident occurred.

Victim - Oliver Jones                                            
Age - 77 Year old black male
Location - 2205 LaSalle Street 
Date of Homicide - March 28, 1999

On Sunday afternoon, March 28, 1999, the body of Oliver Jones, age 77, was found in his house at 2205 LaSalle Street.  He was found by his daughter, who had gone there to check on him.  People frequented the residence with the consent of the victim and large numbers of people were known to come and go from the house at all hours. Mr. Jones was last seen alive around 8 pm, on Saturday, March 27, 1999. It was later determined that the victim had been stabbed.
