Engraving Catalytic Converters To Aid Recovery

The CMPD is partnering with local businesses to offer free engraving services for catalytic converters, which have recently become hot items for thieves looking to cash in on the valuable metals they contain.

While engraving a converter doesn't prevent theft, if enough people do get them engraved, it can be a deterrent. And, if it is stolen, it makes it easier for officers to recover.  The engraving takes about 10 minutes.

The CMPD is providing the engravers to the businesses who will provide the service free of charge at the following locations:
