From June 16 - August 5, 2008, the CMPD will be conducting training at various Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools that focuses on active shooter scenarios. This Rapid Emergency Deployment (REDS) training is mandatory for all officers. People may see a large number of police vehicles in the parking lots of different schools and hear gun shots as officers will be firing blanks.

Please share this information with family, friends and neighbors so they are not alarmed at the police presence or noise from these locations. In the event of an actual incident, the CMPD will quickly make public notifications.
