Warrants Issued For Suspect In Murder of Brothers

UPDATE: Montrez Williams turned himself into the Mecklenburg County Jail late this morning.
CMPD Homicide detectives obtained two murder warrants early this morning for Montrez Benjamin Williams (B/M, DOB 8/15/1990) in connection with the shooting deaths of two brothers that occurred Monday, June 30, 2008 shortly before 10:30 p.m. The brothers have been identified as Terry Long (2-24-1990) and Joshua Davis (1-11-1991) of 3130 Hiram Street. Witnesses report an ongoing dispute between two groups of teens led up to the shooting.

Westover Division officers responded to several calls for service regarding shots fired on Romare Bearden Drive off West Blvd. When they arrived, they found Mr. Long and Mr. Davis lying on the sidewalk at the corner of Romare Bearden and Spring Forest drives. Both sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Family notifications have been made.
According to witness statements, several teens were standing at the corner, arguing. After the shots were fired, two or three teens were seen fleeing the area. Detectives are working to identify the individuals involved in the dispute and are continuing to process the scene for physical evidence. The CMPD will update the case as new information becomes available.
