A 2006 Neighborhood Improvement Project
This project area is bounded by Eastway Drive, Albemarle Road, N. Sharon Amity Road, Central Avenue and Independence Boulevard. This project will identify opportunities for roadway and pedestrian improvements such as:
-
curb and gutter
-
sidewalks
-
driveway aprons
-
storm drainage
-
landscaping
This project may also involve coordination with storm drainage improvement projects and water and sewer line replacement projects. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities has plans to replace approximately 9,500 linear feet of water main in the Eastway/Sheffield neighborhood. This project's construction will be funded by the 2008 Neighborhood Bonds. Construction of this project will begin in 2010.
Currently, the consultant is working on completing the planning phase and beginning the design phase.

Eastway/Sheffield In November 2006, voters approved $25,000,000 for neighborhood improvement projects including $1,000,000 for Eastway/Sheffield. This project will include infrastructure improvements such as sidewalk, curb and gutter, and minor storm drainage improvements in the Eastway/Sheffield neighborhood.
What's happened? The first public meeting was held on August 16, 2007 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. The second public meeting was held on November 29, 2007. A preferred alternative has been selected and the citizens are in favor of more sidewalks. The proposed improvements are shown in the final concept plan.
What's next? The planning phase is near completion and the design phase will begin in June 2008.
