Johnston-Oehler Road Farm-To-Market

A 2010 Transportation Bond Project

The goal of this project is to make improvements to Johnston-Oehler Road from Prosperity Church Road to Mallard Creek Road that will better serve the community and all roadway users including residents, businesses, motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and commuters.  Public input will be an integral part of this process.

Proposed Improvements Include:

  • bicycle lanes
  • sidewalks
  • planting strips
  • landscaping
  • curb and gutter
  • storm drainage infrastructure
  • medians, signalization, and crosswalks

A thorough review and analysis of existing conditions compared to current and future land uses and transportation needs will be conducted.

Johnston-Oehler Road
Farm-To-Market Project
This project will identify roadway infrastructure needs and deficiencies, recommend improvements that accommodate all modes of transportation, and develop a project design concept that supports existing and proposed land uses.

What's happened? City staff is working with engineering consultants, URS, Inc. to identify deficiencies and determine recommended improvements.  A public meeting was held on August 26, 2009.  Input from the meeting is being considered in this process.

What's next? The project team will determine what improvements are necessary and develop alternative concepts based on those needs.  A second public meeting will be held in late 2009.  A preferred alternative should be identified by early 2010 when full design work will begin.
