Part of the Business Corridor Program
This corridor project included planting strips, sidewalks, decorative lighting, pedestrian crosswalks, and street trees from Calvert Street to Freedom Drive.
Objectives:
- Transform the streetscape into a distinctive environment that establishes a positive image for the area
- Reinforce the character and create a pedestrian friendly environment
- Develop strong visual appeal

West Morehead Streetscape
This project provided improvements to Freedom Drive including sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, planting strips and signage.
What's happened? City staff worked with HDR, Inc. consultants to plan and design the streetscape improvements for West Morehead Street.
What's next? Construction is complete. Landscaping will begin in November, 2008.

Cost: $2,850,000
Please note that this figure included all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
The Engineering and Property Management (E&PM) project team managed the West Morehead Streetscape Project through a four stage process. Specific work was conducted during each stage with an emphasis on public involvement during the planning and design phases.
