The Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to receive citizen input on the County Manager's Recommended Budget for Fiscal Year 2009-2010 on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Meeting Chamber of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center (CMGC) located at 600 East Fourth Street.
Persons desiring to speak should call 704-336-2086 or sign up on-line through 5 p.m. May 27th. You will be instructed to leave your name and/or the names of others that will be joining you in speaking, your telephone number, the organization you are representing, if you are speaking on behalf of an organization, and/or the specific budget issue you would like to address.
After May 27th persons must sign up when they arrive at the meeting on May 28th. You are encouraged to sign up in advance, otherwise your name will be placed at the end of the already existing list of speakers.
Time Allotment: Each organization is allowed no more than four (4) speakers with a time allotment of ten (10) minutes total for the group.
An organization represented by one person or an individual representing him or herself is allowed three (3) minutes to speak.
NOTE: The Board reserves the right to alter these rules on a case-by-case basis as necessary for the efficient and effective conduct of business.

The County Manager will present his Recommended Budget to the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. The Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to adopt a budget and set a tax rate at its Regular meeting on June 16, 2009. It will fund Mecklenburg County services to its residents for one year, beginning July 1, 2009.
A copy of the proposed budget will be available for public inspection online beginning Wednesday, May 20, 2009 or in person during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Commissioners/Manager's Office, CMGC, 600 East Fourth Street, 11th Floor.
