Welcome to the Community Resources Division
|
The Community Resources Division collaborates with human services agencies throughout Mecklenburg County to provide services to residents who either do not qualify for traditional DSS services, or who need additional services that DSS does not offer.
Its purpose is to increase the capacity of Mecklenburg County to care for the safety, security and well-being of the community while stabilizing vulnerable customers and assisting them in reaching self-sufficiency.
The division provides four important services to the community:
- Community Social Work provides traditional and nontraditional social work services at DSS facilities throughout Mecklenburg County.
- Resource Specialists develop, implement and maintain programs on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of external and internal stakeholders and all residents of Mecklenburg County. They provide resources and consultation in programs such as housing, mental health, special populations (immigrants), educational liaisons, child care, as well as the divisional training program.
- Work First Family Assistance provides opportunities to program participants to become self-sufficient while improving the economic security and well-being of the entire family.
- Partnership Services provide referrals to community resources, special funds and programs that work with customers to address needs. Programs and services include Emergency Food Assistance, Holiday Meal Sponsorship, Special Funds Administration and Senior Citizens Nutrition Program activities.
