Benefits Checkup- helps find programs for people ages 55 and over that may pay for some of the costs of prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other essential items or services. Caution: This service simply tells you which programs you might be eligible for.  In most cases, one would still have to go to the offices of the governing agency to formally apply for services. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Council on Aging (CMCOA) - a local organization whose mission is to address, advocate and support the rights and needs of older adults on issues that affect them. 

Eldercare Locator - a nationwide, directory assistance service designed to help older persons and caregivers locate local support resources for aging Americans to help them remain independent in their own homes.

Family Caregiver Alliance - This national organization provides resources to help those who care for disabled or frail elders. Includes information on managing Alzheimer's disease, tax issues, work and eldercare, an online support group, and much more. Has significant content on elder abuse and its prevention.

National Aging Information Center - This service of the U.S. Administration on Aging offers searchable databases on AoA supported materials and reports, publications, a calendar of events, statistical resources on the aging, GAO reports related to aging issues, and web links. The site also contains a link to the MedLine Database of the National Library of Medicine.

National Institute on Aging - research profiles, funding, health information and publications.

Senior Grapevine - an informative, community email bulletin service for the sole purpose of reporting senior-related activities and events to individuals, agencies, organizations and companies who request such information.  To sign up for this service, go to seniorgrapevine.org.

Prescription Information/Assistance

Needy Meds - provides eligibility information and applications for the various Patient Assistance Programs that drug companies offer. 

Together Rx- is a prescription savings program that provides savings to eligible Medicare enrollees on more than 150 widely prescribed medicines–right at the pharmacy counter.
