All Hazards

Over the years Charlotte-Mecklenburg has experienced its share of disasters and emergencies.  In 1989 hurricane Hugo's 87 mile an hour winds brought devastation to the landscape.  July 1994 saw the crash of the US Airways jet 1016.  And as the community has grown, flooding has become a increasing occurrence. |

In light of events such as acts of violence in Oklahoma City, New York/Washington, and Charlottesville, we have added information about Terrorist and other violent criminal activities as well as other human caused disasters.  We will provides details about the various hazards, both natural and human caused,  that can cause problems in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

In addition we have added some helpful tips, that if followed, will prepare you for the worst.  Disaster preparedness is everyone's responsibility.  The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County have a definite role to play in the management of emergency.  But we need your cooperation to minimize the impact.
