Winter Weather Information

============================================

Charlotte, NC—
The Charlotte Department of Transportation is treating City streets for ice, snow and winter weather.  Thirty-one trucks and crews reported for duty at 12:30 p.m. today. They will be working until 7:00 p.m. when the second shift will take over  until 7:00 a.m. If necessary, fresh crews will continue treating streets for winter weather tomorrow.

CDOT is concentrating on major and minor thoroughfares, emergency locations such as entrances to hospitals and assistance to Police, Fire, and Medic, then working on residential collector streets, bus routes and school locations.

Drivers are cautioned to slow down, avoid sudden stops and starts. Leave plenty of following distance between vehicles. Give road crews, large maintenance trucks and emergency vehicles the right of way.

Drive safely and call 311 to report icing on bridges and streets.

Call 511 for road conditions around the state, or visit NCDOT's Travel Information Center for real-time travel conditions, and cameras on the state's major thoroughfares.
