The Childcare Nurse Consultant is an educational resource for staff and children in the day care setting. Education is provided to daycare providers and staff through workshops and on-site visits. The nurse plays an active role in the investigation of communicable diseases when they occur in the day care setting and works closely with Environmental Health in areas of sanitation. 

An important function is the monitoring of day care facilities for immunization compliance by auditing the Annual Immunization Report that is required by the state.
