RESTAURANTS/FOODSERVICE FACILITIES

There are over 2700 food service facilities operating in Mecklenburg County and the number is increasing daily. F&FS Program staff issue permits for operation of these facilities and are required to conduct over 10,000 facility inspections per year to help maintain high levels of sanitation for protection of public health. In addition, staff review plans for new construction and remodeling of facilities, investigate requests of insanitary conditions and poor foodhandling practices, and provide educational information to workers to help prevent foodborne illnesses.

The information below is intended to assist managers and workers of these facilities by providing information that will help them prepare and serve food that is free of organisms that can cause foodborne illness.  The pages will also benefit citizens at home and will provide specific information for them about their favorite restaurants in Mecklenburg County.
