Mecklenburg County Air Quality operates a state and federally certified ambient air monitoring network, which measures ozone, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur oxide to determine Mecklenburg County's compliance with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards and to provide and communicate vital air quality information to the citizens of Mecklenburg County.
