Ad valorem property tax rates across Mecklenburg County are adopted in June, for the next fiscal year beginning July 1. The rates are stated as dollars per one hundred dollars of property value. Property is assessed at a percentage (assessment rate) of the property tax rate. The product of the two - assessment rate times the tax rate - yields the effective tax rate. However, North Carolina has adopted a uniform assessment rate of 100%, so the tax rate will always equal the effective tax rate.
Tax rates and examples are provided by the Office of the Tax Collector at this link: Tax Rates.
