Worthless Check Settlement Program
|
This program allows you to avoid an appearance in court and a conviction on your record. When you pay the money you owe, your case will be dismissed. If a warrant has been issued alleging that you committed the criminal offense of passing a worthless check, you can avoid a criminal conviction in court by paying off the bad check(s) you wrote before your court date.
Come to our office at 600 East Trade Street, the City Hall building, in the basement, Suite 003, Mon.-Fri. 8am-5pm or call 704.336.2903 to get started.
The following will occur:
- We will give you the paperwork you need and explain it to you.
- Go to the business or person and pay them for the check and service charges, they will sign and date your paperwork.
- Get a cashiers check or money order for $60, made out to the "Clerk of Court."
- Bring your paperwork and the $60 to us by the due date listed on the front (7 business days before your assigned court date).
- We will make sure that you are not expected in court and that your case is dismissed.
