Role of the Cabinet

The primary role of the Mayor's International Cabinet is to serve as an advisory board to the mayor and city government. It provides a community forum for international issues, offers citizen access to local government officials, and works with local international organizations to promote public awareness of Charlotte's ethnic diversity and international connections.

Cabinet Accomplishments
To assist the international citizens of the Charlotte area, the Mayor's International Cabinet has teamed with other organizations in Charlotte to develop programs and initiatives furthering the goals outlined in Charlotte's International Strategic Plan.

Mayor's International Community Awards
Each year, the Mayor's International Cabinet, Charlotte Sister Cities, World Affairs Council of Charlotte, North Carolina World Trade Association - Charlotte Chapter, and International House sponsor the Mayor's International Community Awards to recognize the philanthropic support that local foreign-owned companies give to Charlotte area nonprofit organizations.

Mayor's International Cabinet Task Force Reports
The Mayor's International Cabinet has published several position papers on issues addressing emergency preparedness, economic impact of international residents, healthcare, ESL and more.

Mayor's International Cabinet Annual Report
This end-of-fiscal year newsletter highlights the major accomplishments of the Mayor's International Cabinet in FY2005.
