Medic, the Mecklenburg EMS Agency, responds to more than 85,000 calls a year for service in bustling Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, which includes Charlotte and six surrounding towns. In addition to providing Advanced Life Support services countywide to a population of more than 800,000, Medic dispatches all of its own calls and those for 16 volunteer fire and rescue departments.
Medic's commitment to medical excellence and quality service earned the agency the 2006 Pinnacle Award of Excellence as the outstanding EMS system in America.
