The structure of our department is broken down in such a way that it provides the most staff to each need and interest of the public. The formal divisions of the Park and Recreation Department include:
- Enterprise Services - oversees operations of the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, Ray's Splash Planet Indoor Waterpark, Marion Diehl Pool, Cordelia and Double Oaks Pools, Charles T. Myers, Renaissance Park, Revolution Park, Sunset Hills and The Tradition golf courses, Latta Equestrian Center, Historic St. Mary's Chapel, the Grady Cole Center and Historic American Legion Memorial Stadium
- Fitness and Wellness - provides physical fitness and wellness programs
- Nature Preserves & Natural Resources - manages the natures centers, nature preserves, and natural heritage sites
- NC Cooperative Extension - partners with communities to deliver education and technology on agricuture, food, land and environment.
- Park Planning - responsible for park projects and park planning
- Park Services - maintenance of our parks and facilities
- Therapeutics - develops programs for the disabled, elderly and under-privileged
