| PROJECT HISTORY: |
Berewick Park was originally purchased in the late 1990's and land-banked for future development. 2004 Park Bonds were approved for a sports complex type park. With it's proximity to the newly built I-485 Belt Road, access is very convenient to all users. The project is also a joint use facility with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools which will open an elementary school onsite in August, 2009. Park and Recreation and CMS will share facilities (indoor recreation center and outdoor ballfields) in this concept along with costs for the construction site work and some building costs. A series of community workshops were held in 2003 and a site master plan was prepared and approved by the Southwest Park District Advisory Council, the Park and Recreation Commission, and the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. |
| PROJECT SCOPE: |
Phase I will consist of 3 multi-purpose fields, parking and restrooms. A new recreation center with multiple sport courts, fitness area, and classrooms will also be built in conjunction with the new Berewick Elementary School. |

Construction documents are being finalized. Bidding and construction on hold until public bond sales are reinstated. |
