In 2004 Mecklenburg County voters approved 69 million dollars in Park Bond projects. One of those projects called for the creation of a new district park near Billy Graham Parkway and West Boulevard.
Throughout the planning process, various sites have been studied, difficult terrain evaluated and additional properties acquired at the chosen site. The park property has now grown to over 75 acres. Construction drawings are nearing completion, unfortunately, due to the current County Budget Diet, construction will be delayed until conditions improve.

The park property has grown to 75+ acres and a conceptual site master plan was approved in Spring, 2008 by the Central Park District I Advisory Council, the Park and Recreaiton Commission and the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. |
| PROJECT SCOPE: |
Phase I will consist of two collegiate sized, adult baseball fields (both built to tournament quality standards), playground, restroom, parking. Mountain bike and pedestrian hiking trails may also be built. |
| STATUS/TIMELINE: |
Construction documents are currently being prepared with a Fall, 2008 bid date. Construction to start Winter, 2009 and be completed Winter, 2010. |
