The Therapeutic Recreation Section of the Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation Department seeks to "Provide Therapeutic Recreation services to individuals who have disabilities that focus on abilities, rather than disabilities and encourage people to attain their highest level of independent leisure functioning by increasing leisure skills, improving social and communication skills, increasing independent living skills and increasing their awareness and involvement in community and recreational activities; to advocate for and ensure inclusive opportunities in all programs and services; to act as advocates for individuals with disabilities by promoting accessibility at all Department parks, facilities, programs, special events and classes."

Goin' for a ride!

Calling all volunteers!  We need volunteers to assist with pre-school-age through senior programs.  Volunteers are key for safety and added fun to our programs.  Your skills and style provide another meaningful component to our participants' lives.  A variety of opportunities are available, including helping out in the office.  Training is also available.  To be part of our volunteer corps and help with any of our programs, contact Lori Saylor, Volunteer Services Coordinator at 704-336-5478.
