The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are responsible for keeping order during any civil unrest. Officers are trained in crowd suppression, as well as riot control.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg has been very fortunate that there has been little need for this service. Through the efforts of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee and the Police Department's International Relations Unit and other non-government organizations, Charlotte-Mecklenburg has sought a peaceful solution to issues.
