August 12, 2014 - Public Notice: 2014 Annual Monitoring Network Plan for Mecklenburg County Air Quality

Notice is hereby given for the opportunity for public comment on the “2014 Annual Monitoring Network Plan for Mecklenburg County Air Quality” (plan).  The annual monitoring network plan must be made available for public inspection for at least 30 days prior to submission to EPA.  A thirty (30) day public comment period beginning on August 12, 2014 and ending on September 12, 2014 is open to accept comments on the plan.  The plan is available in the "Community Informtation" section of our website or by clicking here.
 
 

 August 6, 2014 - Be a voice for your community!  Apply to serve on the Mecklenburg County Air Quality Commission (AQC).

Link to AQC webpageThe AQC is currently seeking interested and qualified applicants residing in Mecklenburg County to fill a vacant seat in the following two categories:

  • General Public
  • Health Professional.

The twelve member AQC advisory board provides citizen and stakeholder input to the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, local municipalities, and MCAQ staff to promot the protection, preservation, and enhancement of the ambient air resources of Mecklenburg County, NC.

June 17, 2014 - The revised Mecklenburg County Air Pollution Control Ordinance ("MCAPCO"), effective June 17, 2014, is now available on MCAQ's website.  The county's air pollution control regulations were revised to incorporate recent revisions to the State's Toxic Air Pollutant program, and to include the maintenance and contingency plan requirements, as approved by the EPA, for the Charlotte 1997 ozone standard attainment area.  Visit the MCAPCO webpage for the full version of MCAPCO.

May 15, 2014 - Mecklenburg County Air Quality held a compliance assistance workshop focused on combustion sources - boilers and generators.  The workshop covered federal, state, and local air quality requirements for these common emission source types.  View presentations here.
