George Dunlap is a Democrat elected to his second term on the Board. Dunlap served 14 years as the District 3 representative for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board. He serves as chairman of the County’s Effective and Efficient Government Committee, a member of the Public Safety Committee, a member of the Economic Development Committee, and as the liaison to the Mecklenburg County Fire Commission. He is a former DARE Officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Commissioner Dunlap received his master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003. He received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from UNC Charlotte in 1991.
