Domestic Violence Advisory Board (DVAB)

The Domestic Violence Advisory Board is the official Citizen Advisory Commission on domestic violence issues. The members are appointed by and report to the Board of County Commissioners and Charlotte City Council.

The DVAB is housed at and receives staff support from the Mecklenburg County Community Support Services Women's Commission in the Hal Marshall Center at 700 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.

Regular meetings are held monthly on the second Monday of the month at 6:15 PM. 
These meetings are open to the public. Please contact the Mecklenburg County Community Support Services Women's Commission at 704-336-3210 for meeting room location. Sub-Committees are appointed as needed and meet until completion of their task.

DVAB Mission Statement

Periodically review and evaluate all Charlotte and Mecklenburg County domestic violence services, and make appropriate recommendations to Charlotte City Council and the Board of County Commissioners to identify gaps, or need for additional services to meet the needs of victims of domestic violence and their children. To provide vigorous advocacy for domestic violence and its related costs to victims and the community.

DVAB Board Membership

Any citizen of Mecklenburg County may apply for membership on the DVAB by submitting an application to the Board of County Commissioners or the City Council. Application forms are available from:

**COUNTY POLICY STATEMENT**

All County employees are prohibited from serving on any board, committee, council, or commission where appointments are made by Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) or where funding is provided by the County, including special study committees appointed for the purpose of recommending funding or policy. 

This policy does not prohibit County employees from serving in an ex-officio capacity on any of the above boards, committees, councils, or commissions when required by law, when a position is reserved for a County employee to be designated by the BOCC, or when such service is deemed by the BOCC to be in the best interest of the County.
