John McGillicuddy is a General Manager for Mecklenburg County government, the largest and most urban county in North Carolina. In this role, John's primary accountability is achieving the organization's goals for efficiency and effectiveness.
John has been with Mecklenburg County since 1991, joining the Public Service & Information Department (PS&I) as a public information specialist. He was promoted to PS&I Director in 1994. In October 2000 he was named Interim Assistant County Manager. He then served as Executive Assistant to the County Manager from December 2000 to November 2002. He was appointed to his current position as General Manager in November 2002.
John is a native of Massachusetts and earned a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also holds a Master's degree in Organizational Change and Leadership (MSL) from Pfeiffer University. He is a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum in Charlotte (Class V) and a graduate of Leadership Charlotte (Class XX). John has lived in Charlotte since 1980, and is married with two children.
