For Healthcare Providers

HIV/STD Testing
The Sexually Transmitted Disease Control Clinic offers counseling and treatment services to Mecklenburg County Residents. Anyone who suspects they have been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease or wish to be screened for possible exposure may visit two Health Department locations and be seen by appointment.

Services Available

The Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Control Program offers the following services to patients:  

  • Physical examination, screening & treatment for STD
  • Pre-counseling for HIV test
  • Professional laboratory staff services
  • Follow-up visits (if required)
  • Education on prevention of STD
  • Free condoms
  • Free Hepatitis A/B vaccines (while supplies lasts)
  • Referrals (as needed)
How Much Does it Cost?

Services are free to patients. HIV/Syphilis testing is provided on a walk-in basis - no appointment necessary. Tests are free and confidential. Appointments are needed for STD screening and can be made by calling 704-336-6500.
