When you apply for WIC on the Mobile Solution bus, a WIC team consisting of an Interviewer and a Nutritionist will see you. The interviewer will review income, proof of residence and identification information. The nutritionist will complete a nutritional assessment, which includes checking height and weight, and asking questions about health, medical history and diet. The nutritionist will also provide nutrition education specific to the applicant's needs. Applicants (other than infants less than 9 months of age) will also have a blood test for iron deficiency. If the applicant is found to be eligible for the WIC program, WIC food instruments (or vouchers) will be issued which can be taken to participating WIC stores and exchanged for nutritious foods.
