The Community Health Assessment is conducted every four years; the most recent assessment was conducted in 2010. This information is submitted to the state and is component of County Health Department Accreditation. Mecklenburg Healthy Carolinians and other community partners use this information to guide our efforts to support, promote, and encourage partner activities and collaboration.
As part of the assessment process Mecklenburg Healthy Carolinians leads the community through a priority setting process to identify the areas of greatest concern. Our current health priorities were identified by combining the results of a community priority setting meeting with the results of an on-line community health opinion survey.
The current health priorities for Mecklenburg County are:
- Chronic Disease and Disability Prevention
- Access to Care
- Environmental Health (Healthy Environments Supporting Healthy Choices)
- Substance Abuse Prevention
- Violence Prevention
- Injury Prevention
- Mental Health
- Responsible Sexual Behavior
- Maternal and Child Health
