Energy efficiency  13% electrical savings from 2007 baseline 
Computer energy use  1,616 tons of CO2 annually 
Fleet ozone-forming emissions  1.16 tons reduced (8.7% lower than 2007 emissions 

> Resource Conservation

Measurement  Accomplishments 
Recycling  Diverted 3,300 tons of paper waste (16.1% of total waste stream) 
Purchasing  80% Paper recycled content, 21% of supplies with recycled content, 90% of cleaning products met Green Seal standards, all computer and monitors Energy Star certified, 60% low VOC paint 
Land preservation  323 acres for parks, open space and greenways acquired 
Sustainable facilities  LEED Gold certification of Medical Examiner facility

Employee Incentives  8% employees participate in alternative transit. Green Guardian and WorkGreen programs successful 
Business Unit Integration  All County departments as well as Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County, and Central Piedmont Community College (County funded agencies) have adopted Environmental Action Plans
