Last November, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation asked the community just that. Now they’re ready to present the survey results from that meeting and discuss what steps to take from here forward during a community forum set for Thursday, Feb. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Armory Building, 1418 Armory Drive.

Park and Recreation staff will talk about survey results collected from respondents between Nov. 17 and Dec. 2, 2011. Forty-one respondents said they are interested in becoming stakeholders to track the Memorial Stadium project from concept to completion. Four stakeholders offered monetary donations, and four stakeholders said they were interested in working with Park and Recreation to identify potential funding sources.

An update on the next steps in the planning process will also be presented at the forum.

Memorial Stadium has been the site of 4th of July fireworks events, high school and collegiate football games, soccer and lacrosse games and most recently the 30th anniversary of the Carolina Lightnin’s American Soccer league championship reunion.
