Youth Athletics:
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation offers a wide variety of athletic programs to youth participants throughout the year. All youth athletics programs are Recreation Center based and take place at various parks and recreation centers throughout Mecklenburg County. Cougar Training Club: Track
This training program focuses on the necessary skills and training to participate in Track events.  Activities include plyometrics, techniques, learning the philosophy of track, strength training, and more!  For more information, contact Izell Twiggs at

Lil Sista:
This program, founded by Erica Strong, is designed to show young women (ages 11-16) their self worth.  The team will help guide, inspire, and uplift the girls in hopes of becoming intelligent, respectable, strong young women

Coffee and Pastry Art Therapy:
Come enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and delicious pastries while exploring your inner-self through art therapy with one of Charlotte's talented artists, Cathay Dawkins.  This is an ongoing monthly program.

Senior Fashion Show:
The Active Seniors Club would like to invite you to its first Annual Fashion Show for the Young at Heart Seniors only at Naomi Drenan Recreation Center.  Come see the hottest collection of seasonal apparel for men and women from your local fashion stores!

Mecklenburg County 4-H 2014 County Activity Day:
Mark your calendars and make a day of it!  All youth, family, and friends are welcome!  Join us for a day of 4-H activities including 4-H Entertains, Presentations and Public Speaking, and the 4-H Science Fair.  Please contact 4-H agent Racquel McNeil ( for youth registration and preparation information or 4-H Program Assistant Catherine Daniels ( for volunteer information, training to serve as a judge, or any other role you may be interested in holding.

NDRC Sky Hy Step/Drill Team:
Our goal is to provide structure and consistency for youth to perform in a safe, equitable and family-friendly atmosphere. We aim to provide leadership and character building programs, enrichment clinics and local competitions.  Come be apart of one of the best youth step teams in Charlotte, NC. All practices will be closed sessions starting September 4th and ending June 11th on Monday’s and Wednesday’s 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
NDRC Afterschool Program
We're offering an afterschool program for boys and girls ages 5-18.  It is broken down into two groups, ages 5-11 and and ages 12-18.  Students will receive assistance with homework, receive tutoring, and engage in activities that reflect the themed weeks such as Leadership Week, Technology Week, and more.  Afterschool will be held Monday-Friday from 3:00pm-5:00pm at a cost of $55 a month per child.

North Carolina Dance Community Outreach:
This program provides free, accessible, high quality dance instruction and performance opportunities to over 41 students here at the recreation center from ages 7 to 11. Selection for this program will be determined by open auditions for boys and girls, financial need and commitment of the parents to the program. Contact the center to find out when then next audition will be.






Ray Play Toddler Time
This ongoing program is designed to keep children active as they develop cognitive, social, physical, and emotional skills.  Preschoolers and parents will learn, explore, and interact in age appropriate games and activities.  Ray Play is held every Tuesday from 10:30am-11:30am.  Cost is only $10 per month!


Men's Fellowship: 
Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, men ages 18 and up are welcome to come play pick up basketball during lunch breaks or to get exercise on your day off.  $2 per person.
