Charlotte, NC-- Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and Carolina Speed invite youngsters, ages 9-12, to sign-up for their new Youth Indoor Football League which will play at Bojangles Coliseum on Independence Boulevard on Saturdays beginning in April. Eight teams will be formed in this first-ever youth league endorsed by the Speed and the American Indoor Football Association.
 

The Youth Indoor Football League (YIFL) will feature 8 on 8 play on the field, with team rosters of 15-20 players. To organize the league, Speed coaches and staff worked with Park and Recreation staff to adapt professional rules to fit youth capabilities. Throughout the youth league season, Speed players and coaches have agreed to hold coaching clinics and training camps to share their experiences and knowledge of the game.

Carolina Speed plans to work with this youth football league to increase interest in the game. Speed coaches and players, will attend YIFL games and practices. Youngsters will have the chance to learn about the game from the professional players, who will sign autographs, provide giveaway items and demonstrate their interest in the community.
