Our Children's Memorial Walkway Holds Dedication Service

Charlotte, NC-- Our Children’s Memorial Walkway invites military personnel and interested citizens to attend a dedication service for a new Military Memorial Section honoring soldiers who have died serving our country. The service is on Veterans Day, 2pm, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in Frazier Park, 1201 West 4th Street.

VFW Post 9488 (Veterans of Foreign Wars) will present an honor guard for the service, and Commander Jeffery F. Friar will make brief remarks along with other speakers. Dedication bricks purchased in memory of those killed serving our country recently have been installed into the walkway.

Our Children’s Memorial Walkway now has more than 1000 engraved bricks in memory of children of all ages, plus a beautiful garden with plants, flowers and statues of playing children. Families from 11 states, Canada and England have adopted engraved bricks in the walkway in memory of their loved ones. The walkway and garden are place to come and remember loved ones or friends in a peaceful setting, “a place of life.”

Our Children’s Memorial Walkway and garden are on property of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department. The walkway was created in 2001 through a partnership among Park and Recreation and several grief groups. Our Children’s Memorial Walkway is a 501(c)(3) corporation.
