Charlotte, NC—Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department offers activities this fall ranging from youth basketball to a trip to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheville at Winget Recreation Center, 1225 Winget Road. To register for any of the following events, visit www.parkandrec.com, click on Eparks and enter the Course Code number or call 311.
  • Halloween Ghouls and Ghoulies Party, Fri., Oct. 30, 6:30pm-8:30pm, includes arts and crafts, games and a children’s costume contest. Ages 1-12, $2.
  • Start Smart Basketball, registration ends Sat., Oct. 31. Ages 3-5, $55.
  • Youth Basketball Leagues, registration ends Sat., Oct. 31. Ages 12-under, $55.
    * Ages 6-under, Course Code #5125
    * Ages 8-under, Course Code #5126
    * Ages 10-under, Course Code #5127
    * Ages 12-under, Course Code, 5128
  • Trip to NC State Zoo at Asheboro, Wed., Nov. 11, 9am-5pm, $15 for children ages 6-11 and $18 for ages 12-17. Participants should bring money for lunch. Course Code # 5418 for youth and 5420 for teens.
  • Young Readers Day, Sat., Nov 14, 1pm-3pm, bring your favorite book to share with others while celebrity guests will read to the children. Ages 5-12, FREE. Course Code #5468.
