The celebration features activities and live entertainment for all ages.


Charlotte, NC- The McDowell Nature Center and Preserve invites the public to celebrate Día del Niño, a free festival celebrating the joy of children, on Saturday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The celebration features activities and live entertainment for all ages.

The event will include family fishing, with all gear and bait provided, bilingual live animal talks, a Quinceañera party with the Mecklenburg County Library, Home Depot building crafts, and Criss Cross Mangosauce, a bilingual interactive performing group for families. Criss Cross Mangosauce will take the stage in the large pavilion at 2 p.m. La Raza 106.1 FM will host a live feed from the Preserve throughout the day.

Guests are welcome to bring a picnic. Charcoal grills are available in the medium shelter area.
McDowell Nature Center and Preserve, located on Lake Wylie in southwest Mecklenburg County, protects more than 1,100 acres of natural habitat and prairie, including seven miles of hiking trails. The Preserve features a Nature Center and is the only campground in Mecklenburg County.

Free shuttle service will be provided inside the Preserve for the event.
