McDowell Nature Center Offers Family Activities Each Weekend Through September
The activities are part of a series called “The Great Urban Escape,” and include: Playing with Fire, Family Campfire, Nature at Night Hayrides, Messy by Nature, Live Animal Talks and Family Kayak Tours.
'Garden 2 You' Farmer's Market to Support Summer Camp Scholarship Fund
The farmer's market is Friday, May 27, 1-5 p.m., at Marion Diehl Recreation Center.
Outdoor Pools, Spraygrounds Will Open Memorial Day Weekend
Park and Recreation’s outdoor pools will offer FREE swimming lessons for all ages at both pools. Pool admission remains $1 and spraygrounds are free!
Davidson's West Branch Rocky River Greenway Opens May 21
The ceremony begins at 1 p.m. Guests can access the greenway at the southern end of Shearer Road in Davidson.
Leisure and Learn Senior Summer Camp Offered Every Thursday in June
The camp is at William R. Davie Park and features activities ranging from photography to cooking.
'Grease' is the Word at Hickory Grove Rec Center
The public is invited to a free performance of the musical 'Grease," on Saturday, May 14 at 1 p.m. The presentation is part of the “All About the Arts” program of Park and Recreation’s Therapeutic Recreation Section.

The award is presented annually by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) to honor excellence in management and planning of parks and recreation agencies.
