Neighborhood & Business Services Department, City of Charlotte

These funds will be used for homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing activities.
Homeless Prevention:
   - Prevent individuals and families at risk of    homelessness from becoming homeless
Rapid Re-Housing:
   - Assist persons experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized
Specifically the funds can be used for the following activities:
   - Short-term (up to 3 months) or medium term (4   to 18 months) rental assistance
   - Housing relocation and stabilization services
   - Housing search, mediation of rent payments issues between landlord and tenant, outreach to property owners, credit repair, security or utility deposits, utility payments, legal services, moving cost assistance and case management.

Funds may not be used to make mortgage payments.

Intent is to serve persons who:
  - Are homeless or would be homeless but for this assistance.
  - Can remain stably housed after this temporary assistance ends

Household income may not exceed 50% of the Area Median Income ($32,150 for a family of four).

Non-profit housing support agencies will most likely use the funds to provide benefits to families in danger of being homeless that need rental or utility assistance or need new housing under a rapid re-housing program. Persons needing benefits will contact those agencies for assistance. Specific housing assistance agencies have not been identified at this time.
