CLT’s Eighth Annual Runway 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, October 25. Last year’s run attracted nearly 2,000 runners and walkers and raised more than $20,000 for LIFESPAN. Runners and walkers can register now for the 2014 Runway 5K Run.

2014 race proceeds will benefit LIFESPAN’s LIFEWORKS Program.

Receive reduced rates by pre-registering at RaceIT.com through Sunday, October 12.

Entry fees are non-refundable. Non-competing children ages 7 and under are free and must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants (both runners and walkers) who pre-register prior to Thursday, October 16, will receive t-shirts during the week of the run when picking up packets.

Packet pickup will be Wednesday, October 22 – Friday, October 24, from 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Charlotte Running Company (1412 East Blvd.).

Awards for the Eighth Annual Runway 5K will be presented in the following categories:

Top 3 Overall Male/Female
Top 3 Teams
Top 3 Male/Female Baby Joggers
Top 3 Male/Female in each age group: 7 and under, 8 – 10, 11 – 14, 15 – 19, 20 – 24, 25 – 29, 30 – 34, 35 – 39, 40 – 44, 45 – 49, 50 – 54, 55 – 59, 60 – 64, 65 – 69, 70 and up.

Event Details
The Runway 5K Run is a certified run that takes place on a smooth, flat surface at one of the nation's most unique locations and busiest airports. A portion of the race course is on one of the Airport's taxiways and provides up close and exciting views of planes landing and taking off, the terminal complex and a scenic view of the Uptown Charlotte skyline. The course is wheelchair accessible and baby stroller friendly.

All participants (runners and walkers) who pre-register by Thursday, October 16, will receive a t-shirt.

Other participants will receive a t-shirt while supplies last.

Please note:

For safety reasons and because of the Run's secure location, bikes, rollerblades, inline skates, dogs and/or other pets are not allowed.
The course will not be open prior to 8 a.m.
All runners and walkers should arrive at least one hour prior to the race start.
Be prepared for bags to be inspected.

Race History
LIFESPAN is a local a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that transforms the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities by providing education, employment and enrichment opportunities. The LIFEWORKS Program provides training and support necessary for adults with developmental disabilities to gain financial independence, explore opportunities for meaningful work and become engaged within their own communities.

In year's past, local celebrities and athletes have participated in the event including Charlotte Bobcats Kemba Walker, former Carolina Panthers defensive end Mike Rucker and Mrs. North Carolina USA Debbie Miller. The Runway 5K has raised more than $120,000 for LIFESPAN since its inception in 2007.
